Pupil News

From the weekly staff bulletin:

The YPI final was this week and it seen the senior pupils battling it out to win a large amount of money for their chosen charities. The charities being represented by our seniors were the Food Store at Kinlochbervie and Durness Church, Down Syndrome Scotland and the Marty MacKay Memorial Fund. Pupils did their charities proud and it was a close call but Keira and Grace managed to persuade the judges and the money was awarded to the Food Store. This is a great project for our pupils to be involved in; developing their skills in Oracy and team work. Thanks to Heather for making this happen.

Alfie, Dylan, Jules and Magnus represented the campus for the Geopark writing competition and spent the day at the Rockstop for the awards ceremony. Alfie was award first place with the other pupils receiving highly commended awards. Great work from them and super proud!

Tuesday the Hospitality class welcomed 20 members of the local community to the school for a taster menu and I can not put into words how proud I am of these students. The taster menu was restaurant standard, the food was utterly delicious and to know that these young people prepared absolutely everything from start to finish. The inspectors wanted to see us be more aspirational and our young people rose to the occasion under the guidance of Sylvia and Diana. It was a huge success and everyone who attended thought it was brilliant!
